Earlier this year, I traveled to Nicaragua for two weeks. This is day one:

The first day I spent in Nicaragua was unlike the rest of my trip. Almost immediately after my flight landed, my parents, Josie and I drove forty-five minutes from our hotel in Managua to Granada, a small city on the north-western coast of Lake Nicaragua. We stopped in the city’s central park to climb the Cathedral of Granada’s bell tower to see a magnificent view of the city. After, we wandered the city and ate a lovely meal in a quiet hotel restaurant.

I spent most of my trip documenting people, from handicapped children and their families to the kids at the home we visited. But this first day, I spent most of the time simply observing the light, colors, and textures of Granada and I hope to return with more time to explore.
